ABS PRESENT ARCADIA SHIPMANAGEMENT WITH THE “2018 OUTSTANDING PSC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD”
On the 4th of June 2019, the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) presented ARCADIA SHIPMANAGEMENT the “2018 OUTSTANDING PSC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD” for achieving the best Port State performance globally in 2018. This is the first time ABS gives such prize to a shipping company. The Chairman, President and CEO of ABS, Mr. Christopher J. Wiernicki, attended the award ceremony in the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) to present this award to Arcadia Shipmanagement.
During this ceremony Mr. Wiernicki said: “We are honored to partner with companies like Arcadia Shipmanagement that are also distinguished in safety and tonight we are delighted to present them this outstanding Port State Control achievement award for their exceptional performance during 2018. This is the best port state performance globally for a ship management company operating a fleet of this size. This performance demonstrates the strong correlation between embracing a strong safety culture and achieving world class performance. This type of success is a team sport and driven by a strong commitment and tone from the top.”
Mr. George Angelopoulos received the award on behalf of Arcadia and after thanking ABS, added: ” “Henry Ford said “Quality means doing it right when no one is looking”. During 2018, thirty-four (34) PSC inspections were carried out on ARCADIA’s tanker vessels by PSC officers in various ports of the world. These inspections resulted to zero detentions and only two observations (actual performance of 0,058 observations per PSC inspection) a record low for a tanker shipping company worldwide.
